Boo

Boo Lab, Inc.

Getting started with Boo

Everything you need to set up, connect, and start working with Boo.

Slack

Boo lives in Slack as a teammate. Once installed, anyone in your workspace can mention @Boo in any channel or send a direct message to start working with it.

Install Boo in Slack

  1. Click "Add to Slack" — A workspace admin initiates the install by clicking the button below (or from the Slack App Directory).
  2. Authorize permissions — Review the scopes Boo requests and approve. Boo only asks for what it needs: reading messages where it's mentioned, posting replies, and accessing files shared with it.
  3. Invite Boo to channels — Add @Boo to the channels where your team works. Boo can only see messages in channels it's been invited to.
  4. Start talking — Ask Boo a question, give it a task, or just say hi. It learns your company as you go.
Add to Slack

Requires workspace admin permissions. The install link above uses a placeholder — contact us at hello@boolab.ai if it doesn't work yet.

Permissions Boo requests

Tips for Slack

  • Start with one channel. Invite Boo to a team channel and let people get comfortable before rolling it out company-wide.
  • Use threads. Boo tracks conversation context within a thread, so complex questions get better answers there.
  • DMs for sensitive work. If you need Boo to handle something confidential, use a direct message instead of a public channel.
  • Teach as you go. Correct Boo when it's wrong. It remembers corrections and gets better over time.

Microsoft Teams

Boo also works in Microsoft Teams. The experience is the same — mention @Boo in a channel or send a chat message.

Install Boo in Teams

  1. Request the app package — Contact us at hello@boolab.ai and we'll send you the Teams app manifest.
  2. Upload to your org — A Teams admin uploads the app package via the Teams Admin Center.
  3. Allow for users — Set an app permission policy so your team can find and install Boo from the Teams app store.
  4. Start talking — Same as Slack. Mention Boo, ask a question, hand it a task.

Tips & best practices

Be specific.

"Summarise yesterday's #eng-standup" works better than "What's going on?" The more context you give, the more useful Boo's answer.

Connect your tools.

Boo gets dramatically better once it can see your GitHub, analytics, support tickets, or databases. Each integration makes every answer smarter.

Correct mistakes out loud.

When Boo gets something wrong, tell it. "That's not right — we actually use X." Boo remembers corrections and applies them going forward.

Start small, expand later.

Pick one team or one channel. Let people see real results before rolling Boo out to the whole company.

Use permissions to your advantage.

Boo starts read-only and earns more access as trust builds. You control what Boo can see and do at every stage.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add Boo to my Slack workspace?

Visit your Boo dashboard and click Connect Slack. You'll be prompted to authorize Boo for your workspace. Once connected, invite Boo to any channel with /invite @Boo and it's ready to use. See the Slack setup guide above for the full walkthrough.

Can Boo read all messages in my workspace?

No. Boo can only see messages in channels it's been explicitly invited to, plus direct messages sent to it. It cannot access private channels or DMs between other people.

Which tools and integrations does Boo support?

Boo connects to the tools your team already uses, including Notion, Google Drive, GitHub, Linear, Jira, Salesforce, and more. New integrations are added regularly. Check your dashboard for the current list of available connectors.

How does Boo learn about my company?

Boo builds a private, vault-encrypted memory for your workspace by reading documents, conversations, and data from the tools you connect. This memory is isolated per customer; nothing is shared across workspaces. You control what Boo has access to through the permissions you grant.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Your data belongs to you. Boo does not use customer data to train models. See our Trust page and Subprocessor Policy for details.

How do I revoke Boo's access to a connected tool?

Go to your Boo dashboard, navigate to Connectors, and click Disconnect next to the tool you want to remove. You can also revoke access directly from the connected tool's own settings (e.g. revoking the OAuth app in Google or GitHub). Boo will immediately stop accessing that tool.

What should I do if Boo gives an incorrect answer?

You can reply to Boo directly to correct it. Boo uses that feedback to improve future responses in your workspace. If you notice a persistent issue or a bug, please reach out to our support team so we can investigate.

What are Private Skills?

Private Skills are custom instructions or workflows you teach Boo that are specific to your workspace. They are not shared with other customers. You can create, edit, and delete Private Skills from your dashboard.

Can I remove Boo later?

Yes. Uninstall from your Slack or Teams admin panel at any time. Boo's workspace data is deleted on removal.

Does Boo work in both Slack and Teams at the same time?

Yes. You can connect both. Boo maintains a single memory across platforms, so context learned in Slack carries into Teams and vice versa.

How do I manage who in my workspace can use Boo?

Workspace admins can control Boo's visibility and permissions from the dashboard under Settings → Team access. You can restrict Boo to specific channels or user groups.

How do I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel my plan?

Plan changes can be made from your dashboard under Settings → Billing. If you need help with billing or have questions about credits, see the Usage, Billing, and Credits policy or contact us directly.

How much does Boo cost?

Boo is usage-based. Contact hello@boolab.ai for pricing details.

Where can I find security and compliance documentation?

See our Security and Trust pages for an overview of our security program. For audit reports, penetration test summaries, or security questionnaires, contact legal@boolab.ai.
