Boo
Boo for Slack

An AI teammate that lives in your Slack

Boo is a teammate you talk to right inside Slack. Mention @Boo in a channel or send it a direct message — ask a question, hand off a task, or bring it into a project. It connects to the tools your team already uses and learns your company as it goes.

Installing requires Slack workspace admin permissions. Full step-by-step instructions are below.

What Boo does

One teammate for the whole company.

Every team loses time to the same problem: the answer exists somewhere — in a doc, a past thread, a database, someone's head — but finding it means interrupting a person or filing a ticket. Boo is the teammate that already knows. It sits in your Slack, connects to the tools you use, and remembers what everyone else forgets, so anyone can get an answer or hand off work just by asking in plain language.

How it works in Slack

Just talk to it, like any teammate.

No dashboards, no commands to memorize. You work with Boo the same way you'd message a coworker — right inside Slack.

@Boo the checkout page is throwing 500s since the last deploy. Can you look?
Boo APP 9:42 AM
On it. The 500s trace to a null field in the payment handler — the last deploy dropped a required check. I opened BOO-412 with the stack trace and tagged the author. Want me to draft a hotfix?

Yes please, and post a heads-up in #eng.
Boo APP 9:42 AM
Done — hotfix drafted on branch fix/payment-null-check, and I posted a summary in #eng. I'll watch the error rate and let you know when it clears.

@mention in a channel

Add @Boo to a channel, then mention it. Boo replies in-thread and only sees messages in channels it's been invited to.

Direct message

DM Boo one-on-one for anything you'd rather keep out of a shared channel. Same teammate, private conversation.

Reply in a thread

Reply in a thread Boo is already part of and it keeps the full context of that conversation.

Boo only responds when you involve it, and it can only see messages in channels it's been added to. It never reads or posts in channels it hasn't been invited to.

Getting started

Install Boo in about a minute.

Boo connects to Slack from your Boo dashboard, so you'll set it up right after you create your account. Here's exactly what to do:

  1. 1

    Create your Boo account

Go to app.boolab.ai/signup and create your account — it's free to get started. Already have one? Just sign in.

  2. 2

Open Integrations and click Add to Slack

In your Boo's Integrations tab, start the Slack install. A Slack workspace admin must approve it.

  3. 3

    Authorize permissions

Review the scopes Boo requests and approve. Boo only asks for what it needs to do its job — nothing more.

  4. 4

Invite Boo to a channel and say hi

Add @Boo to the channels where your team works, then mention it or send a DM. It starts learning your company from day one.

Permissions

Only what Boo needs.

Boo requests a minimal set of Slack scopes. Every permission maps to something you can see it doing.

Scope Why Boo needs it
app_mentions:read Know when someone @mentions Boo
chat:write Reply in channels and threads
im:history, im:read, im:write Handle direct messages
channels:history, groups:history Read messages only in channels Boo is invited to
files:read Access files shared with Boo

These are the primary scopes Boo uses. The complete, authoritative list of permissions is always shown on the Slack authorization screen at install time — you approve exactly what you see there.

After you install

Your first day with Boo.

1

Invite it to a channel

Start with one team channel — /invite @Boo. Let people get comfortable before rolling it out company-wide.

2

Connect your tools

From the dashboard, connect GitHub, Google Drive, Notion, Linear, and more. Each connection makes every answer smarter.

3

Teach as you go

Correct Boo when it's wrong. It remembers corrections and gets better over time — for everyone on the team.

Security & privacy

Trust is earned, not assumed.

Boo starts read-only and earns more access as you grant it. Every workspace gets a private, isolated, vault-encrypted memory — nothing is shared across customers, and your data is never used to train models.

Boo generates responses automatically and can sometimes be inaccurate or incomplete — please verify important results. Chatting one-on-one with Boo in Slack requires a paid Slack plan; other features, like mentioning Boo in channels, work on free Slack plans. See our Privacy Policy for how Boo collects, manages, and stores your data, or reach us at hello@boolab.ai.

Add Boo to your Slack.

Day one helpful. Month six, a force multiplier. No onboarding, no ramp-up — just a teammate that grows with you.
